The mandate of NAAC as reflected in its vision statement is in making quality assurance an integral part of the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

With a vision to make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion, and sustenance initiatives; it has added new essence to its process of assessment and accreditation in tune with local, regional, and global changes in higher education scenarios with a focus to enhance the accreditation process for a robust, objective, transparent, scalable, and ICT-enabled accreditation process.

NAAC has been assessing the quality and accreditation of HEIs over the last two decades.

Multiple HEIs’ have undergone this evaluation process and many of them into subsequent cycles of accreditation. 

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), established in 1994; is an autonomous Institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC) with its Head Quarter in Bengaluru.

The vision of NAAC is:

To make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion, and sustenance initiatives.
